Evergloam Castle

Evergloam Castle is just one of the homes of Nocturnal, the Daedric Prince of darkness. Since she, and all her minions, have night-eye, there are no lights anywhere in the castle, except for the two flames either side of her throne. Visitors to the castle are expected to have a light spell, (or night-eye) of their own.

The portal at Nocturnal's shrine in Tamriel opens quite a distance from the castle, and the visitor will have to follow a curving path around the island to reach it. There is a small archway before a larger gatehouse, and the castle itself is entered from an inner coutyard. Next to the entrance to the castle is a door into one of the towers, and you can climb up to the walls of the courtyard, and enter each of the towers overlooking it.

Great Hall

The Great Hall

The floor plan of the Great Hall is similar to that of Anvil Castle. The front door opens onto a large reception area with two columns. The reception area has a door leading to the Barracks, and a short passage through to the throne room. You're not expected to wait around here, so there is no seating.

Most of the blank wall sufaces are hung with black lace curtains, again similar in style, if not color, to those in Anvil Castle. They help absorb any stray light that might reflect off the walls, so they are used in most of the place rooms.

The throne room has an impressive throne, framed by columns and two stairways up to the entrance to the Royal Quarters. Two Daedra Seducers will be on guard either side of the throne at all times. A door to the left leads to the Dining Hall.

Seducer Barracks

Barracks

The barracks are in a large circular tower, and on two floors. There are two small rooms on the lower level, and a larger open area above. The beds are arranged around the wall, with footlockers at the end of each.

If you find a Seducer here with her wings on display, it's not an indication that she's about to attack. They do need to practice their spells, or they'll get rusty. It would still be a good idea to give her as much room as she needs.

The Dining Hall

Dining Hall

The food avaiable in the Dining Hall is mainly fungi, as that's all that will grow in Evergloam's constant darkness. There are a few loaves of bread, but it's not clear what they were made from.

This room also has some fire bowls, giving a little light, but not too much.

RoyalQuarters

Royal Quarters

Nocturnal's needs are apparently simple, as there's little here but her bed. Nocturnal's Eye stands on a pedestal in one corner, but mostly it's empty space. A secret door in one wall opens to a passage down to the basement.

Some of the space is used to house the giant crystal ball you're asked to steal from the Imperial Palace, in your first quest for Nocturnal.

Basement

The basement is just an empty room, with multiple columns. Nocturnal will open portals here, to other Daedric realms. Nocturnal can do that without any restrictions, as the prohibitions that apply to Mundus don't affect connections between the Daedric realms. Some of the other Daedric Princes may take offense, but Azura is Nocturnal's sister, and welcomes her messengers. Nocturnal rarely visits Moonshadow herself, as it's too bright for her.
