Detailed Walkthrough

Minotaurs

When you reach Harcane Grove, you'll find the unicorn has a rider - a naked Breton girl with long blonde curls. The Unicorn will not be aggressive while she is riding it, but if she dismounts it will revert to its normal habit of attacking anyone with a drawn weapon. That means that if any creatures wander into the area, you might have a problem!

The Minotaurs are guarding the girl and the Unicorn, not just for their protection, but to make sure they don't escape. This could account in some part for the Unicorn's agression.

One tactic is to draw the Minotaurs to you by using a ranged attack, either a bow or a spell. If anything does come into the area and get into combat with the Unicorn and its rider, they may not involve you.

Virgin

After the Minotaurs are dead, you can safely approach the Unicorn. The rider, whose name is Meena (probably a diminutive of Hermine) may dismount as you approach, but if you have put away any weapon, that won't be a problem. Talk to her and find out how Unicorns are made, and why she's a prisoner in the Grove.

You'll find out that you can get the horn without killing the Unicorn, (and she would not like that option), by helping her lose her virginity (and she would like that). The problem is that the horn will get lost if it happens out in the forest, so you need somewhere to confine the Unicorn while the "transition" takes place. Fortunately, there's a gated stall at the Stables outside Anvil, and a bedroll in the next one.

Bedroll

Get Meena and the Unicorn to follow you to Anvil, and ask Ernest if you can use the bedroll. Female characters will also be asking for a little more help from Ernest!

Horn

After sleeping with Meena, you'll find the Unicorn has dropped its horn in the stall, and reverted to being a white horse. You can pick up the horn for Hircine, and send Meena off to catch up with what she's been missing at Gweden Farm.

Notes

• Ernest will either want to watch or participate, according to the gender of the player character. Despite the dialog, no gold changes hands.
• If Sexlivion is in use, the action can use that mod to progress. Meena will count as a virgin for your diary tally. Doing it too soon will lose the horn.
• The journal update for Hircine's quest will still say that you "killed" the Unicorn, although it didn't actually die, it just turned back into a white horse. You still have the horn, so Hircine is satisfied.
• Hircine tells you that the spoils of the hunt should never go to waste. So see to it that she doesn't!
• You can still complete Hircine's quest in the original way, but if the Unicorn is killed, Meena will hate you, and run away

10		I've met Meena, who is a reluctant virgin. She has been held prisoner by Hircine, so that the Unicorn would grow its horn, the one he's now sent me to collect. My problem is now to get the horn without upsetting Meena, who will be distraught if the Unicorn dies. If she loses her virginity, the horn will just drop off, but the Unicorn won't be tied, so the horn will be lost in the forest. I seem to remember there's a stall at the Anvil stables that might work.
50		[Male player] We arrived at Horse Whisperer Stables outside Anvil. If we put the Unicorn in a stall, there's a bedroll we can use next to it. I need to ask Ernest if we can use it.

Notes

• Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
• On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage quest stage. Where quest is the internal name of the quest, and stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
