  2. Get a disease (or have a dream).
  3. Do it again.

  5. Find Jakben Imbel and kill him.

Detailed Walkthrough

You will only be doing this quest if you have bought Imbel Manor instead of starting the Thieves Guild quest line. If you buy the manor after killing Jakben Imbel, then this one will not be started. It provides an alternate method for obtaining the Boots of Springheel Jak, which would otherwise be out of reach. The quest is essentially the same for both Vampire and non-Vampire characters, but the jounal entries will differ.

Disease or Dream

When you sleep in the Manor, after completing the upgrade purchases, you will either wake up infected with Porphyric Hemophilia or have just had a dream about a vampire, depending on whether or not you are one. If you caught the disease, you need to cure it before sleeping again. There is a respawning barrel of Madrake roots on the upper floor of the manor to make this easy.

The second time you sleep, you will get a repeat of the first, and understand it's related to the location.

Basement

The sewer entrance in the basement will be unlocked when you go down there. You can now access a small section of the Talos Plaza Sewers (not connected to any other parts) and find a door closing off a hole in the wall. That door accesses the Imbel Catacombs, which is a copy of the catacombs from the quest The Boots of Springheel Jak, except for the new doorway.

Vampires

As in the regular quest, the place is full of leveled vampires, plus Jakben Imbel himself. You do not need to read the diary in the coffin to make him appear, he's already there in the room with his coffin. Take the boots to end the quest.

My guess is that he's been infecting whoever buys the house with vampirism, and the vampires I killed were the previous buyers. Well I not only stopped his racket, but I got a nice pair of boots!
