A Trip to Falkreath

When you reach Falkreath, talking to any guard will reveal that all is not well for Kintyra. Her mother, Anya, was trying to clear trolls out of the mine beneath the town, but was found lying unresponsive in the upper level.

Ring of Imprisonment

Anya is still alive, but is comatose or paralyzed. You'll have to raise Kintyra's disposition to at least 70 before she'll let you visit her mother. That may be a bit difficult if you don't have a charm spell, as she can't be persuaded! Anya is wearing a ring, and when you take it from her finger, she wakes up. She tells you that she was down in the old mine trying to clear it of trolls, but was getting short of Magicka. She had put on an extra ring, but the intended Fortify Magicka one had been mixed up with a Ring of Imprisonment, which rendered the wearer immobile. She takes it back from you, for safety.

Trolls in the Mine

The rest of the trolls are still in the lower level of the old mine beneath the town. You need to go and finish what she started. Anya rewards you with a leveled Ring of Frost Resistance.

Notes

There were two Empress Kintyras, five generations apart.
The upper level of the old mine can be reached from the basements of the smithy, or Dro'bari or Orville's houses. There is a dead troll in there that Anya killed. The live ones are all on the lower level, which also has a door out to the exterior.
After you've woken her mother, Kintyra will no longer charge you for renting a room at the tavern.

10		One of the Falkreath guards told me that Kintyra, the barmaid at the Falkreath Tavern, has a problem. Perhaps I can help? Maybe the other townsfolk know more.
20		I've been told that Kintyra's mother, Anya, has been unresponsive ever since she was found in the Old Mine. I should investigate.
30		Martine, the town's healer, was unable to do anything for Anya. I don't see what I'd be able to do, but I should at least try.
40		I have Kintyra's permission to visit her mother.
50		I removed a ring from Anya's finger and she woke up!
70		Anya wants me to finish her task of killing the trolls in the Old Mine.
80		I have killed all the trolls in the mine. I should return and tell Anya.
90		Anya has rewarded me with a ring. She was careful not to give me the wrong one! But I almost forgot - I need to ask her about her ancestors.
100	0	Anya has told me about her ancestors. Apparently Taminwe's informant had it a bit wrong, and she's only related to the Septim line by marriage. Not close enough, I'm afraid.

Notes

Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage quest stage. Where quest is the internal name of the quest, and stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages.
