Detailed Walkthrough

Vampires

The quest starts when Amusei finds you and asks you to take some Mandrake Root to Evergloam. It doesn't grow there, and although Cyndil doesn't have a disease, Nocturnal is concerned that she might get infected with vampirisim.

There have always been vampires in Nocturnal's realm, as they're attracted by the permanent darkness. However, now that Cyndil's around, they can smell mortal blood, and they're becoming more of a nuisance. Nocturnal would like you to do something to try and discourage them. There's a cave where she suspects they're congregating, just behind the castle.

Visit the Bat Cave

She's encouraged bats to take up residence in the same cave. They have a fireball spell, and don't like vampires any more than Nocturnal does. However, they can't reach all the parts of the cave, so they haven't stopped the vampires from living there. They won't be too pleased to be disturbed by you either.

Get past the bats in the first part of the cave, and you may find them fighting with the vampires outside the ruin of an older castle. There's a door into the ruin at the level where you arrive, and you can fight your way through the castle ruin to get to two other doors. One just leads out to the ledge opposite where you came in, and the main exit leads out to the lower level. The boss vampire isn't in the ruins, but at the end of a cave tunnel leading off the lower level.

Reward.

Near the vampire boss is a chest that contains some enchanted arrows and some gold. If you take the arrows back and show them to the smith at the castle, she'll make more, and have them available for purchase (leveled) after about three days. The arrows have a fire damage plus light enchantment that makes them good against vampires, who like to go invisible, and are vulnerable to fire.

Nocturnal will pay a bounty for every vampire's dust you bring her from here on, regardless of whether you got it in her realm. The more you kill elsewhere, the less will find their way here. The vampires in the cave will respawn, so this is a reliable source of income. She pays the same as Roland Jenseric, but the vampires here are closer, so you don't have as far to walk.
