Morgiah is the daughter of Queen Barenziah and General Symmachus. Her brother is King Hlaalu Helseth. She is married to King Karoodil of Firsthold, and has a son, Goranthir, and a daughter, Rinnala.
Although her husband is devoted to her, the people of Firsthold are a different matter. They resent a foreigner being queen, and dislike the idea of her Dunmer chilkdren inheriting the throne. There has already been one attempt to depose her - described in the book "The Firsthold Revolt". She is not leaving anything to chance, and is taking refuge in Morrowind with her brother until the unrest subsides. Rinnala is travelling with her, and her son Goranthir is making his own arrangements.
At the time you meet her, she's about 60 years old. That's still young for a Dark Elf, who can hope to live for ten times longer than men. Her own mother was nearly 400 years old when she gave birth to Morgiah and her brother. She's quite aware that she's still attractive, and uses that fact to her advantage whenever she can.
In the game Daggerfall, Morgiah clearly had contact with the Necromancers of the region, including Mannimarco, who was at that time a lich. It's not clear if that was a temporary arrangement to further her immediate aims, or anything that has continued into the present. Since she moved to Firsthold, it's possible that she has contact with Necromancers there. It's not made clear if the Mages Guild's ban on Necromancy applies outside Cyrodiil, or whether the Altmer equivalent still includes it as part of the regular magical curriculum. In Wayrest, at the time she was there, the Necromancers were apparently outside normal society, and the Mages Guilds in the region were questing against them.
Notes
- Morgiah's engagement to Karoodil was arranged by Mannimarco and the hero of the game Daggerfall.
- Her dress is based on the one she wears in Daggerfall, with shorter sleeves. Her cat is presumed long dead.
