Detailed Walkthrough

A Jarl's Reward

It all starts when you pick up the flyer at an Inn in the Reach (Silver-Blood in Markarth or Old Hroldan) offering a reward for finding Greta. This wil mark the Monastery on your map. Alternatively, you could find the place on your own, as it's quite close to Valthume. The reward quest (SuccRewardQuest) is just a wrapper around the real quest that adds a small reward. It adds to the radiant bounty quests available at the Inns, but can only be done once.

Find the Monastery

You will find the Monastery of Dibella between Valthume and Cradle Stone Tower, built into the cliffs. There is only one entrance, and the quest proper starts when you enter. The priestesses are not very communicative, so you need to find clues on your own. A search in the dormitory above should reveal Greta's diary, which indicates that she's gone "down", presumably to the crypts.

Rescue Greta

The key you found with Greta's journal opens the door leading from the basement of the Monastery to the crypts below. The spider webs along the passage should indicate that this is not somewhere the priestesses often go.

Crypts

The Crypts are really more of a jail, with cells containing a few skeevers and skeletons. At the back of one of the cells, the wall has been broken through, and you can continue down. On the long flight of spiral staris, you'll encounter your first Succubus.

At the bottom of the stairs, past a couple more skeletons, you'll find the door to the Mines.

Mines

There is straight path through the mines, but the door is locked, so you have to take the long way, which is of course guarded by Succubi and their minions. Witchmoon leads the enemies here.

Follow the winding path through the mines to reach another door to the next level

Abyss

The next level again appears to be a stright line path, but there is a lock on the revolving door at the end, which needs two skulls to open it. Take the nearby passage left, and pull a chain to operate the revolving door there. It will also operate several more doors, and change the route through the area. You will now be able to reach the two halls where Stareye the Witch and Witchfire, with their attendant Soul Burners, are guarding the skulls.

You will find another chain that operates the doors, bringing you back out close to where you came in, with the direct path restored. With the two skulls, you can now open the door at the end.

The next chamber contains two books on pedestals. Reading either of them will transport you into another hall full of Succubi. In one they are HellSpawn, led by Red Vex, and in the other are Snow Witches, led by Blackjade. Once both bosses are dead, a third book will appear between the original two, and reading that transports you into the next area.

Leveque Lazare has been doing Clavicus Vile's work, by implanting wings in the women who are lured down here. You find several women in cages, and others in various stages of transformation into Succubi, restrained until the process is complete. His journal and a book about the process are on one of the tables. Leveque himself is at the end of the room, and will be hostile.

The door at the end of the passage beyond the laboratory is locked, but in a side-passage you will find Greta, naked and locked in a pillory (for Leveque's personal pleasure, we assume). Attempting to release her will fail, but Azura and Nocturnal will arrive to help you. It will take both of them working together to undo what Clavicus Vile has done.

Andariel's Lair

They will send you into the next level, to deal with Andariel, Vile's Lieutenant, while they work on Greta. The door is now unlocked. Go through and deal with her, and one of each kind of succubus (plus a few minions as usual). The key you need is not in the big obvious chest, but in a smaller one behind Andariel's throne. Take it back to the Daedric Princesses.

They don't need the key, really, but did want Andariel removed. Greta is now out of the pillory, and back in her Succubus outfit, although she no longer has the wings she was starting to grow. Azura will send you both back up to the Monastery cellar, so you can take Greta back to Markarth and get the reward. She will stop following you when you enter Understone Keep.

Your Reward

Collect the reward from the steward or the Jarl, and you're done! The Reward is the same as for any of the radiant bounty quests.

Notes

  • You don't have to pick up the Reward quest first. If you find the Monastery, then this quests starts when you enter. However, you miss out on a small amount of gold that way.
  • Greta is available as a follower after you deliver her to Markarth, and she enters Understone Keep. She knows the succubus spells, which are quite a decent set. Her combat style keeps her out of trouble, but she also has some self-healing, and magical defence.

Bugs

  • Finding them is your job!

  • Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage FreeformCaravansA stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest FreeformCaravansA.
