Hervik's Lair

Entrance

The short tunnel leads to a large pair of iron doors, suggesting a much larger space is beyond, Although this area has natural light from above, there is no way to reach that area and fall in here.

Main Halls

There are no enemies in the first chamber, or loot, either. Whoever came here before you must have cleared this part. Further in, down the ramp, you'll come to a door that opens from this side. It may have stopped anything from getting back up to the entry. You'll meet the first of the draugr past this door.

On the table where you enter, you'll find Yarob's journal. She left it there, in case she didn't get out, as a warning to anyone following her. It's also confirmation that you came to the right place. However, at this point she didn't have much idea what to expect, so it doesn't give you much help.

If you go up the ramp to the door on the right, you'll find it locked, and requiring a key. The key only exists if you are doing the Rescue Yarob quest, otherwise you will have to be contenet with the contents of the chest guarded by the boss draugr.

A door on the lower level leads up a short corridor, past some resting draugr to a passage with swing blade traps. You may be able to jump the pressure plate and avoid setting them off. If not, use the chain at the end to turn them off, as you'll be going back out the way you came in.

Beyond that is a chamber with a couple of further draugr, and a closed portcullis. That is opened by a pair of levers at the ends of the two side passages. The boss draugr is always high-levelled, but he won't leave his chamber, and can be attacked with ranged spells or a bow from outside. When he's dead, go in and lott him and the chest. If you're doing the rescue quest, he'll have the key you need. Otherwise, he has a decent weapon, and the chest holds a levelled amount of booty, and may be the target of a radiant quest.
