This time it's Methredhel that gives you Nocturnal's summons. Amusei has been sent to Chorrol ahead of you. When you talk to Nocturnal she tells you to go talk to Ulliceta gra-Kogg there. The Orc Magister will tell you about her research and how it was (deliberately) mistaken for necromancy. She's found out that the necromancers have the Chrysamere, a legendary sword, and are trying to sell it to a bunch of wizards in the Summerset Isle. It's on its way through Cyrodiil and perhaps Nocturnal can locate it and help you intercept it. She hopes that this will prove she's not on the necromancer's side, and will get her reinstated in the Mages Guild.
Nocturnal has found the sword, but she hasn't seen it. It's either in a chest in Fingerbowl cave, or rolled up in a bolt of cloth next to it. The sword is very heavy, if you're not the chosen hero, so you'll need the bag of holding again to bring it back.
Fingerbowl Cave is full of undead, with necromancers in the zone where the sword is located. It is inside the bolt of cloth, and you'll have to cast the spell of holding on that.
Take the bag back to Nocturnal, and she'll give you a cash reward, and tell you a bit more about the sword inside, inside the bolt of cloth.
Now you need to find out what Ulliceta wants as her side of the bargain. Go back to Chorrol, and ask her. She'll tell you about the couple of mages she thinks accused her. She doesn't know their names, but they were friends of Ontus Vanin, the retired mage in the Imperial City.
If you talk the beggar, No-coins Draninus, in the Talos Plaza district where Ontus Vanin lives, he'll tell you that Ontus retired when Traven banned Necromancy. He wasn't one himself, but he was put off by the way his colleagues were treated. Prior to that, he'd been a most generous man, even letting students keep things in his basement, as there weren't facilities for storage at the University. No-coins remembers a couple, but not their names.
If you talk to Ontus Vanin directly about Ulliceta, he'll tell you he wants nothing to do with the Mages Guild.
Since the beggar mentioned the basement, that's where you should search. You'll find a set of drawers, containing writing equipmemt, a mage's robe, a necromancer's robe, and a letter. If you read the letter, it's all about denouncing Ulliceta to get her out of the necromancers' way. Take it back to her, and get an second reward of Restoration skill.

Stage | Finishes Quest | Journal Entry |
10 | Nocturnal has sent me to Chorrol to find an Orc mage called Ulliceta gra-Kogg. She'll be able to explain everything.
20 | Ulliceta gra-Kogg told me that the Necromancers are smuggling the Chrysamere through Cyrodiil. I need to check with Nocturnal and see if she can find it using her crystal ball.
30 | Nocturnal has located something in Fingerbowl Cave. Perhaps it's the sword. There certainly are necromancers guarding it.
40 | I arrived at Fingerbowl Cave. Now I have to find the right bolt of cloth.
50 | I have the bolt of cloth that supposedly contains the Chrysamere. Now I need to take it back to Nocturnal.
60 | I gave the bag of holding, containing the bolt of cloth, containing the sword (maybe) to Nocturnal. She seemed to think I'd got what I was looking for. Now I need to go back and tell Ulliceta all about it, and figure out how we can help her in return.
70 | Ulliceta has asked me to track down her accuser, and the woman he was seeing. The only connection she has is that they were friends of Ontus Vanin. It wouldn't hurt to ask a beggar about him, either.
80 | Ontus Vanin was not prepared to discuss anything relating to the Mages Guild. If I want to find anything out, I'll have to search his house.
90 | I found a letter, and both a mage's robe and a necromancer's one, in drawers in Ontus Vanin's basement. The only identification was the letter M, which doesn't match Ontus or Vanin, so it must be the initial of a student mage. The letter alone is probably enough to clear Ulliceta. I'd better take it back and show it to her.
100 | I gave the letter to Ulliceta. Hopefully she can use it to get what she wants. She's taught me something about Restoration for my troubles. |
